Project Description:

Approximately, 1.35 million people die every year due to road accidents (World Health Organization). More than half of these road accidents are the accidents caused by road crossing. The fastest growing traffic in cities of every country of the world are a risk of accident and make it difficult to cross the road easily (data feeds from Terbine’s system). In this machinery world, robots are being used as traffic police and traffic warden. This development is still ignoring the safety of pedestrians who face many difficulties while crossing the road.

 

To solve these difficulties, I am developing a robotic system (Robo Road Crossing Assistant) to make the road crossing easier and safer. Robo (Road Crossing) assistant will be developed for the following objectives:

  • Assisting people to cross the road easily and safely
  • Educating people about traffic rules and road safety measures
  • Object recognition & computer vision system to get the data feeds and store them on the Cloud for later analysis

 

Following fields/markets will get benefits by the usage of this robotics system:

  • Educational institutions
  • Hospitals
  • Roads crossing points
  •  Shopping Malls
  • The robot will assist people to cross the road in a safe manner by stretching its hands, moving with the pedestrians/road crossing people and displaying red signal and some kind of message to the coming traffic side.
  • The robot will educate people about traffic rules, road safety measures etc.
  • The market scope of this robotic system will comprise of educational institutions, shopping malls, hospitals, traffic signals etc.
  • The robot will be able to capture the number plate of the vehicles and face recognition and save it in the database for later analysis.
  • The robot will provide speech recognition feature to make the communication with robot easy.
  • The robot will have an autonomous driving feature.

 

The saved data on the cloud could be analyzed by police and FIA.
